Baroque Tea Dress

Chi Chi London has the prettiest clothes and this baroque dress comes in so many beautiful colors. I couldn’t commit to one of their tea dresses until I saw this sky blue and gold combo. It would seem appropriate because of my dark hair that I would relate the most with Princess Jasmine or maybe even Snow White, but the truth is as a little a girl I’d always dreamt of being Cinderella. She is kind, forgiving and completely selfless. Although a so many people think her character is passive and a little subdued, I find her immensely brave and strong. To be good in a world filled with hate and negativity is beyond courageous in my eyes, and for that I’ll always think she’s a wonderful role model to young girls. So, here I am finally having my Cinderella moment after all these years – but in my own way of course.

Baroque DressChi Chi LondonBaroque Dress

The bodice is padded and there are quite a few layers of tulle underneath the skirt that make it a little bulky and heavy, so I would recommend removing a layer or two for a more comfortable fit. The baroque dress has such beautiful intricate detailing and the fabric is really good quality, which makes it a great choice for a wedding, prom or gala. You can simply pair a tea dress with gold sandals or nude pumps and chandelier earrings. Since the lace really speaks for itself  and the neck is high, you can keep the accessorizing to a minimum. I’d love to hear what you think of this baroque dress and if you would wear this style. Who’s your favorite disney princess?

Home Spa Treatment

Nothing is quite as fun and relaxing as a day of pampering, and since we may not get the chance to treat ourselves often I’ve put together some of my favorite products for a home spa treatment.
Sheet Masks

Ideally, it’s best to start with the gooey stuff like thick face or hair masks. You can try my go-to dewy skin mask which is oh-so smelly but incredibly rejuvenating. I’ve also previously talked about my love for the Sephora Sheet Face Masks which are really gentle but have super hydrating powers.

A new favorite is the Starskin Gold Mask which was a pleasant surprise for me. I always worry about my skin breaking out from new products and so I’m very careful about what I try on my face, and this mask is very soothing and moisturizing. Home Spa

Next up is – in my opinion – the best part, a soak in the tub with some Lush Bombs. The Rose Bombshell smells like the Rose Argan conditioner, a candy and rose water explosion that soothes the senses and relaxes the mind. The flowering tea bath dunk is literally like lying on a field of glittering lavenders, and like all lush products leaves the skin soft and supple.

Lush Rose Bath Bomb Bath Dunk

I recently discovered a natural-based brand in Dubai that makes beautifully scented olive soap bars. Olive soap is so common in most arabic households and I use it around the house for so many things, but I never thought to shower with it. The Shiffa soaps come in delicious scents and have a strong capacity for cleansing and moisturizing.

Natural Soap

Now that you’re out of the bath and glowing, it’s time for some more moisturizing. Sephora extended their line of sheet masks, and now have lip and hand masks as well. I try to put hand cream as often as possible throughout the day, but the dry weather and the constant washing and application of hand sanitizer tends to takes it’s toll on my skin. The hand gloves smell so good and are easy to apply, leaving you with an extended surge of hydration.

Hang Glove Sephora Hand Glove

You can’t have a home spa treatment without some oil and this Elemis Cellutox one is citrusy and very lightweight thus not leaving me with a sticky feeling after use. I usually like to apply pure Argan Oil, but I like how the Elemis oil is absorbed so quickly into the skin.

Elemis Oil

The last step is one of the most important, your eyes. I like to use the lightest possible eye creams during the day so my concealer won’t crease. However sometimes the skin around my eyes gets alarmingly dry and flaky, so I use a heavier cream like this SkinCeuticals Eye Balm during the night.

Skinceuticals Eye Balm

What products do you use when doing a home spa treatment, and are there any other steps you like to include? I’d love to hear about it from you.

Vaniday App UAE

If you’re living in Dubai – or the UAE in general – then you already know there is an endless supply of salons at every corner. I find that once I have a place and person I like and am used to, I keep going back to them. When the ladies at Vaniday app approached me about testing out their app and reviewing it, I was so excited to discover a new place to try and get out of my comfort zone. I was absolutely shocked at how many salons there are around that I never knew existed and proceeded to book at Essentials Salon Dubai, mostly because the interior looked so quaint and serene. Luckily my experience there was wonderful and now I have a new badge under my ‘favorite salons’ belt.

The great thing about the Vaniday app is you can search for places by services or location and it includes reviews to help you choose. There are often discounts and promotions available through the app, which is an additional perk to booking through Vaniday. I like making bookings online rather than over the phone so I can figure out the best date and time while seeing the available options infront of me, and to be able to make changes or cancelations later on if need be. The only difficulty I faced was that I was unable to book multiple services at once, but other than that I found this to be a fast and easy way to make appointments,  while discovering new salons in my area and even choosing s preferred stylist or nail therapist. Have you tried the Vaniday app and if so, what was your take on it?

Striped Frilled Shirt

You may have heard me use this line before, but the shoot for this Zara Frilled Shirt is one of my all-time favorites, and it’s not only because I absolutely adore this outfit. I’ve been stung by the wanderlust bug again and that’s what inspired this lookbook. While dreaming up what I’d like to pack on a trip to Tuscany, I knew it would involve stripes, a straw hat and of course a pair of strappy gold sandals. My off-shoulder obsession has already begun in full-fledged mode and this frilled shirt has an extra cute flounce to it.

Zara Frilled Top

While shopping at Zara recently, I noticed it was stripes and off-shoulder central, which made me wonder how many similar tops and dresses I can buy before it gets to be too many. I came to the conclusion that it’s probably all I’ll be wearing these days and I’m not going to fight it. This is certainly the hottest trend this spring/summer, and since we’ve all invested in so many of these cute shirts, it’ll hopefully stick around for another few years.

Whenever I wear this soft blue shade it reminds me of our honeymoon in Santorini, the color of the clear sky connected with the ocean and the tops of the little churches in Oia. As you can see, I’ve got it bad and I’m itching to go somewhere soon. Luckily I haven’t booked any trips yet, thus giving me plenty of time to build the perfect wardrobe for when I do finally jet off, my trusty hats in tow. What have you been dreaming of lately, my darling?

Wanderlust Collection

In December I shared with you a post called Wanderlusting with my friend Sara Japanwalla who gave me the full scoop on her latest venture into fashion design. She has finally launched The Wanderlust Collection, which captures the essence of each beautiful city (Paris, Venice and Santorini) on a canvas of wearable art for different tastes. Sara is an innately talented artist and now she has proven that she knows what looks good on women. The pieces range from playful midi skirts, capes and dresses all in a flattering scuba material. I got to work with a team of amazing ladies to create an editorial photoshoot for the collection, and we each were able to showcase our unique styles and how we would wear the outfits. Since the general vibe was colorful, fun and slightly retro, we decided to go for vintage hair and makeup. Some of the pictures were shot at Magnolia Bakery at The Beach in JBR which really was the icing on the proverbial cupcake. I don’t really like to play favorites, but the Paris Midi Skirt I got to model felt like it was made just for me because it really fit like a glove. I think The Wanderlust Collection has enough variety of prints and styles that work for different body types and will appeal to anyone with an affinity to something bold and cheeky. You can see the pictures from our photoshoot below, and I highly recommend you head to the Sara japanwalla biddi store and get yourself a wanderlust piece for the summer! I would love to know what you thought of our shoot and which outfit is your favorite.

Spring Makeup Favorites

I haven’t done a beauty blog post in a while and so I decided to show you how I’d create a simple look using some of my spring makeup favorites for this year. My everyday look is usually the same, but I’m always into trying to incorporate new products especially as the seasons and trends change. At the moment I’m still using the same base for day-to-day outings which is the Tarte BB Tinted Treatment, but I’ve added the Nars Loose Powder (in ‘Eden’) to the mix which helps with keeping everything in place without looking caked on. The shade is too dark for around my eyes but adds a lovely and natural warm tone to my very pale complexion.

For the next step I pulled out my current favorite palette by Too Faced, the Chocolate Bon Bon. The shadows and highlighters smell like actual candy and there’s a wide variety of shades from neutrals to brights, and mattes to sparkly to please everyone’s taste. I applied the shade Cashew Chew all over my lids, and a mixture of Almond Truffle and Cotton Candy to the outer corners of my eyes. I finally used Satin Sheets on my cheekbones to give me that shimmery glow I love so much. The application is just enough to  add pigment without looking over the top, so you can control how heavy the look turns out.

Mascara is so relative from person to person and is something I’m constantly experimenting with. Right now I’m using Urban Decay’s Perversion and it’s been working perfectly for me since it separates the lashes and gives length and fluffiness. I love using a lash primer or maximizer but it’s been a while and I’m so glad I picked up this False Lashes Maximizer by MAC because I was pleasantly surprised by the impact it makes.

For my final step I applied my go-to lip shade for the season which is Stila’s All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci. I can’t get enough of these liquid lipsticks, and in pure Stila fashion these come in tons of gorgeous shades and are incredibly long lasting without the extra drying factor. They’re also easy to remove which is plus since I hate looking like my lips have been mauled at. I saw this particular shade on my cousin and ran straight to Sephora the next day to pick it up, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I hope you liked this look and will be trying some of these products yourself. Let me know what your Spring Makeup Favorites are for 2016!

Spring Tweed Jackets

I still remember the first time I saw tweed pieces during Spring and the sheer excitement I felt over a mint pencil skirt and the creamy tweed jackets. While we’re still clinging to remnants of a breeze here in Dubai, I thought I’d remind you to put your pretty tweed jackets to good use, without the need to overdress. Tweed is such a beautiful and elegant texture (thank you Ms. Coco Chanel) and I love finding the pieces with a little shine in the threading. I debated over how I wanted to style this jacket since I usually tend to reach for dresses and skirts, but I thought it carried its own weight pretty well and was confident it would turn a simple look into a chic ensemble. Since this blazer is in my favorite shade of cream I was not about to shy away from pulling out all my soft pastel accessories, but I would definitely keep my eyes peeled for all the dark and smoky tweed jackets out in the market right now.

Spring Outfits

I adore my simple and meaningful jewelry but I knew I had to add a bit of sparkle to complete my ‘Sunday brunch on the upper westside’ vibe, and this necklace from J. Crew was just the right amount of gloss I needed. When it comes to investment pieces, tweed jackets go a long way in the eternal style department. You’ll see them make an appearance during the fall and last all through winter and spring.  You can pair them with a simple shift dress, over a pleated skirt and even tailored shorts and channel your inner effortlessly stylish parisian. Let me know what you think!

Printed Pencil Skirt

Have you ever spotted something and immediately knew it’s exactly what you’ve been searching for? That’s what this printed pencil skirt was for me. I love wearing these midi skirts, especially for spring and finding the right print that is bold without being too colorful was a must for me. The best part about a printed pencil skirt is it does all the work for you, just add a simple top and fun accessories and you’re good to go. I’m quite infamous for my whites and pastels, but it feel so good to wear an outfit that’s a little edgier than my usual looks. This look is super feminine and ladylike and can be worn for work, a dinner party or an evening out. These printed pencil skirts work great with bold lipstick and bright earrings as well, because that’s what spring is all about. A lot of ladies worry about the fit of a midi pencil skirt, but I assure you with the right heels they’re extremely sexy, flattering and are perfect if you don’t feel like showing too much legs. You’ll never know until you try, so be a little adventurous this spring and wear something you haven’t thought you’d like before. What is your number one must have for this season, and have you found it yet?

P.S. It feels so good to be back, ladies. 😉

Afternoon Tea Dubai

A while back, my girl Rhiannon of Bride Club ME and I decided to collaborate on a project again and we put together this fun Ladies’ Afternoon Tea Dubai.  There’s so much to do in this city and that could be quite overwhelming, but I love the idea of celebrating a birthday, bridal shower or just some bonding time doing something simple yet out of the ordinary.

We started our morning getting pampered at Be Bar Blow Dry Bar in Jumeirah. The space is clean, relaxing and filled with light just how I like. The stylists are extremely skilled and professional, knowing exactly what suits us best. We decided to go for a 50’s pin up look for our hair and makeup, but with each of staying true to our personal style. Our makeup was done by Hayley Di Rito, who looks like an actual living pin up doll. I’m normally not adventurous in the hair and makeup department and I like to stick to my usual look, but the results turned out romantic and elegant so I will be trying new things more from now on.

Pin up styleAfternoon TeaThe whole experience was so relaxing and smooth. We were spoiled with sparkling juice, popcorn, gummy bears and warm cappuccinos while getting our hair done. I noticed that all the stylists have the same technique so you’d always get the desired results.

Our next stop was to the Hamptons Cafe next door, which is a quaint place with all the rustic, beach-side New York elements that go along with it’s name perfectly. We shared a lovely deluxe tea for two complete with warm scones that crumble, sweet yet gooey macarons, soothing jasmine tea and most importantly the perfect company for such a day. We caught the golden light just before sunset on their rooftop seating area which gave the photos a warm and authentic feel.

We really enjoyed our day together and all the amazing ladies who worked with us to create this special Afternoon Tea Dubai. If you’re looking for a new salon to try out then I highly recommend you get a blow out at Be Bar and try it out for yourself, and then head over to Hamptons cafe for brunch because they have exceptionally good food and coffee. Like I said before, sometimes it’s best to seek out all the out of the ordinary places that are filled with all the right little touches.

Logic of Love

I’m not one to take Valentine’s Day too seriously and my husband and I rarely make a thing of it, but this year I took it as an opportunity to slip into a pretty blush dress and do a photoshoot alongside my dapper hubby. We got so lucky with this beautiful pink sunset and a nice breeze and I fell in love with how natural the pictures turned out. We often take our loved one for granted especially when you’ve been together for so long (it’s been 13 years for us and you can read about our love story), but for me that means a great deal of trust because you’re wholeheartedly giving your soul to someone believing they will cherish it forever. The only logic of love is that it has no logic or explanation, it just comes like a streak of wind and sweeps you off your feet. Once your toes find the sand again, you’re hopefully left with a companion who adores your imperfections, wants you to fulfill your dreams and puts a smile on your face.
