When you’ve lived in one place for a long time, there’s a chance the grass starts to seem greener anywhere else. Between my love for travel and the constant search for the feeling of novelty, I forgot to live in the now. I’ve decided to start this series about My Dubai, so that I can explore all the amazing places in my city and share my experiences with you.
Fraiche Cafe and Bistro is a cute concept cafe located in Jumeirah Lake Towers and I was invited to review their new menu. They usually change up their menu every few months to keep things fresh and interesting. If you work or live in the area, they serve breakfast all day and one of the tastiest cups of coffee I’ve had in a while.
Now let’s get down to the food. I started with their Beetroot and Avocado Salad which combined my favorite greens: spinach, rocket leaves and obviously avocado. The beets were sweet, the avocados perfectly ripe and the raspberry vinaigrette dressing was the right balance of sweet and tangy.
I love eggs and that’s one of the main reasons I adore brunch, because I can have them as late as I want. I had the egg sandwich next: scrambled organic eggs and cheese with bacon and mango chutney in a buttery brioche. It was pretty heavy but oh so good. I don’t really care for beef bacon and probably would’ve enjoyed the sandwich even more without it.
I was pretty much done but the chef insisted I try their cherry cheesecake. I really don’t care for cherry flavored sweets but it was so delicious: a little sweet, a little sour on a semi-salty biscuit. It didn’t taste like the classic american cheesecake but more like the one a Lebanese mom makes at home, and yes I ate the whole thing. They have a ‘dessert of the day’ so it may not be available all the time, but if they have it while you’re there it’s a must try.
I hope you enjoyed this, let me know if you try Fraiche Cafe and Bistro out! xo Rania
